Botox® and Xeomin® Injections

Botox® and Xeomin® are manufactured injectable medications used therapeutically to reduce the strength of targeted muscle tissues.

Injection of small quantities of Botox or Xeomin into specific overactive muscles causes localized muscle relaxation that smooths the overlying skin and reduces wrinkles, which is a desirable cosmetic result of treatment. The positive therapeutic benefits of this medication occur from relaxing muscle tissues commonly seen with people experiencing migraines and clenching/grinding habits.

It typically takes about 3 days to two weeks to see the results of these medications and treatment may last three to six months. Dynamic wrinkles, seen during muscle contraction, yield better esthetic results than static wrinkles, which are visible at rest.

Botox® or Xeomin® injections are contraindicated in certain persons with keloidal scarring, neuromuscular disorders (e.g., myasthenia gravis), allergies to constituents of these products, pregnant or lactating women, infection or dermatitis in areas being treated, and flu or cold symptoms.

There are side effects to having these injections and they largely depend on the site being injected and will be discussed at the time of consultation.

Currently, we are scheduling separate consult and treatment appointments for these injections. Please contact our office for more information or to schedule an appointment.
